Music is a vital part of the United Methodist Church, and forms an integral part of the ministry at Donelson Heights. Along with the activities listed below, we often have special musicians play during our services.
Chancel Choir – Comprised of an intergenerational group of singers, the Chancel Choir leads service music and provides anthems in a wide range of styles for Sunday worship, as well as seasonal music for the church year. Music reading ability is helpful, but not required. Commitment to the choir includes Wednesday rehearsals (mid-August through mid-June) from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and pre-service rehearsals (all year) at 10:10 on Sundays.
Chancel Bells – Comprised of youth and adults, this handbell choir rings music for worship during the Advent and Easter seasons. Music reading ability is very helpful, but not a requirement. Commitment to the ensemble includes Sunday rehearsals from 5:30-6:30 p.m. beginning approximately 5 weeks prior to the scheduled Sunday for playing.
Children's Choir – Children ages 6-12 are invited to participate.
They sing for Sunday Worship during Advent and/or Easter, and other times as announced.
