Youth to forgo this year's Mountain TOP trip to focus
on local flood relief
With the
damage of the recent catastrophic
flooding to reach a cost of 2
billion dollars in Nashville alone,
the Donelson Heights UMC youth have
agreed to forgo their trip to
Mountain TOP this year to focus
their time, effort and resources to
local flood relief. In lieu of the
week long trip to Mountain TOP, our
youth will engage in a series of
short and long term service projects
to provide relief, clean up and
repair for those affected by the
floods. Money raised for Mountain
TOP will be used for flood relief as
well as saved for next years trip.
Be
the Change Day:
A Day of Service and Worship from
April 17, 2010
Some of our youth met early Saturday
morning to help build raised beds in
our Garden of Hope. The Garden
of Hope, begun last year, is a
community garden that grows fresh
vegetables for use by the
congregation and 2nd Harvest Food
Bank. Anyone who works on the
garden is free to take whatever
veggies they need. The rest is
put out for the congregation to use
with suggested donation. All
of which goes back into maintaining
the garden.
