United
Methodist Women play an integral part in the church and surrounding community.
They are a
vital service organization of women who join hand-in-hand to support the work of
the local church and mission work in the Conference and world-wide.
The United Methodist Women (UMW) at Donelson Heights is a unit of this women's' organization of the worldwide United Methodist Church. Its purpose states: "The organized units of the UMW shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; to expand concepts of mission through global ministries of the church."
The general meeting of the UMW at Donelson Heights is held 4 times each year. DHUMC has two circles:
Morning Watch Circle meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 10:45 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Members bring covered dishes for lunch. They share a time of fellowship, devotion, and planning for the needs of the UMW and church.
Sunshine Circle meets on the 4th Monday of every month at 10:00 a.m. in the homes of members. This group is made up of women of varied ages. They enjoy the fellowship and support of one another and give our full support to the church and UMW projects. Programs are short and usually given by volunteer members.
The UMW conducts meetings aimed at educating members about the mission activities of the United Methodist Church, and participates with other units in reading/study programs. They also sponsor activities to raise funds for various ministries and for special projects at Donelson Heights.
All women at Donelson Heights are cordially invited to become a part of the UMW. Contact the church office at (615) 883-6103 if you are interested.
