ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL

There are seven different Sunday School classes for adults and the ages and subject matters are quite diverse.  We're sure you will be able to find a class that's just right for you.

F.A.Q. (Faith Asks Questions) Dr. Kay Gray  and Rick Quinn are facilitating a new, interactive adult Sunday School offering where we will be exploring together the questions of faith and the way in which faith encourages questions on such topics as sin, grace, redemption, salvation, God’s rhythm which we celebrate with the seasons of the church year, the ways in which Jesus is so precious to us, and how we approach the mystery of the Trinity.  This class starts at 9:05am.

Builders - Membership consists of both married and singles.  All ages are welcome.  This is a lecture/discussion class using Bible-related materials.  A rotating group of teachers from within the class enhances leadership skills.  Adult Bible Studies are used as lesson material. ***SEE DETAILED DESCRIPTION AT RIGHT

FaithFinders: meets in Room 224. We welcome all ages, singles and couples. We study the Bible and current issues in the light of faith.

Fellowship - A lecture/discussion class which meets in the Chapel. There are no age restrictions and everyone is welcome.  There is a short song service before the lesson.  Adult Bible Studies are used as lesson material.  ***SEE DETAILED DESCRIPTION AT RIGHT

Friendship - Mostly young to middle-aged couples and singles.  Studies are based on literature chosen by the class.  Currently we are using a curriculum that takes current events and evaluates them though the eyes of faith.  The Friendship class is a discussion oriented class that currently uses the FaithLink:  Connecting Faith and Life as United Methodists -- a powerful and provocative look at current issues through the lens of Christian faith.  We offer a more intimate setting than traditional classes offering class based on dialogue. We are a close group with a sense of community; yet, are welcoming of all new persons looking for a different type of Sunday school experience.

J.O.Y. -  J.O.Y. stands for Jesus first, Others second, and Yourself last.  Comments and discussion are welcomed anytime during the lesson.  Lessons are based on the Adult Bible Studies.  ***SEE DETAILED DESCRIPTION AT RIGHT

Journey - -This class is a discussion class on books, Bible studies, videos, etc suggested by class members or our Education Director.  At the end of each selection, we decide as a group on the next topic.  Previous topics include Centering Prayer, The Great House of God, Max Lucado; If You Want to Walk on Water You Have to Get Out of the Boat, John Ortberg; the Labyrinth and many more.  We are informal and welcome anyone who would like to join the class or join a study.  We meet outside the balcony, in the room just to the left of the stairs from the sanctuary.

**J.O.Y., Builders, and Fellowship Classes

These three adult Sunday School classes will be embarking on a rich journey throughout the Old Testament during the Fall quarter.  These classes use a wonderful resource called Adult Bible Study.  A BS offers engagement with the Bible in depth along with practical application to life.  Included in the student books is a feature entitled “Daily Bible Study” where you are given selected readings of Scripture fore each day of the following week.  Each reading offers an opportunity to explore a facet of the lesson to be studied the following Sunday.  The J.O.Y. class meets in room 201 in the hall going to the sanctuary.  The Fellowship Class meets in the chapel and the Builders’ class meets in Room 219.
