Prayer Breakfast, Book Discussions,
and Other Studies

  • Every Monday morning at 7:00 a.m. we meet in the Aldersgate classroom for a Prayer Breakfast.  Anyone is welcome to come and all prayer requests are kept confidential within the group.

  • Starting, Tuesday, January 31, 2012:
How the United Methodist Church Seeks to Apply the Christian Vision of Righteousness to Social, Economic, and Political Issues
Rev. Jim Hamilton and Rick Quinn, Director of Christian Education will facilitate a small group study of The Social Principles of the United Methodist Church 2009-2012.  The Social Principles of The United Methodist Church are a call to a “prayerful, studied dialogue of faith and practice” according to the introduction to the document stating them.  The introduction continues by reminding us that Methodists from the beginning have understood that the gospel is both personal and social.  According to the United Methodist book of church law, The Book of Discipline, the Social Principles “provide our most recent official summary of stated convictions  that seek to apply the Christian vision of righteousness to social, economic, and political issues” (¶ 101, 2008 Book of Discipline).

If you are interested in knowing more about the ways in which the UMC seeks to address current situations in the light of faith and how we can participate in this “prayerful, studied dialogue of faith and practice,” consider joining us on Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m. -8:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall.  Study books are available for $3.00.  Please contact Rick Quinn for more information, to get a book or to request child care.
